About Our Chapter

The Northern California Chapter was founded in San Francisco in the early 1960s and was originally statewide. The chapter eventually split into Northern and Southern California chapters and currently features members practicing in Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, King, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Tulare and Yolo Counties.

Through our annual symposium and trial practicum, our chapter provides the highest quality education for California's attorneys at both ends of the spectrum: the practicum teaches trial skills to young lawyers while the symposium presents sophisticated and cutting edge programs for experienced family lawyers. The chapter donates substantially all of the proceeds from these programs to charity.

The chapter participates in the drafting and sponsoring of amicus briefs on issues of concern to families in transition, and sponsors a round table for Northern California judges to share ideas and policies.

Our members meet once a month to network and participate in our various dinner programs, and enjoy two annual social events: the summer party and the holiday party.
